What will you discover during South East tour?

Bois Cheri Tea factory – it is a small village in the south of Mauritius where we started the plantation of tea back in 1892. There is also a tea factory which is opened for tourists and as well as Mauritian to visit. Inside, you will have a guided tour through the factory to discover the history, story and the importance of tea in Mauritius. After visiting the factory, you will have a tea tasting at the Chalet while enjoying a panoramic view of the south of Mauritius.

La Vanille Nature Park – here you will be able to discover a large variety of giant turtles (more than 1000) which come from Aldabra Island of Seychelles and of Madagascar. From the other animals, you have also more than 2000 crocodiles from Nile, also monkeys, deers, iguana, bat and many more. You may also discover the insectarium where you have a big collections of more than 23,000 species of insects and butterflies from all over the world.

St.Aubin Colonial house – it was built in 1819 and last renovated in the 90’s, in order to preserve a part of Mauritian heritage. The estate produces sugar cane which is then processed to make rhum. You will also have a quick visit of the vanilla house and the greenhouse for the plantation of Anthurium flowers.

Gris Gris cliff – it is found on the east of central Souillac, a grassy clifftop affords beautiful views of the black – rock coast line. A path leads down to the wild Gris Gris beach; a wooden sign warns of the dangers of swimming here. The beach is naturally very popular with tourists for its waves. The term ‘gris gris’ traditionally refers to black magic. Another story is that the beach was named after the puppy of a French cartographer who visited it in 1753.
